Tamko Driveway & Pavers: The Pompano Beach Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Tamko-compatible driveway and paver components in Pompano Beach, with most replacements running $5,000-$14,000 for a full driveway replacement or $250-$700 for sealing and minor paver resets. Most Tamko paver and driveway inquiries we see in Pompano Beach start the same way: a homeowner notices uneven settling, joint sand washing out after storms, or surface spalling that wasn’t there last season. The trigger is usually a hard rain or the first real heat cycle of the Florida summer, when subsurface movement finally shows through.

Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s paver and hardscape line has shifted over the past decade, and the part you need depends on when your driveway or patio was installed. Pre-2015 Tamko installations in Pompano Beach typically used the Heritage series pavers, a 60mm concrete paver with chamfered edges and a pressed surface texture. Post-2015 jobs moved toward the Titan series, a 80mm paver with a beveled edge and higher compressive strength, rated for vehicular loads. The catch: Heritage and Titan use different joint widths, 3mm versus 5mm, which means the joint sand specification and the edge restraint profile don’t interchange.

To identify your series, check the edge of an exposed paver. Heritage pavers carry a “TAMKO” stamp on the bedding face, visible if you lift one from a loose edge. Titan pavers moved the marking to the side wall. If your installation used Tamko’s permeable paver system, the bedding layer is a 3/8″ clear stone rather than traditional concrete sand, and resetting requires that exact gradation to maintain drainage. We carry both Heritage and Titan edge restraints, joint sands, and replacement units on our Pompano Beach trucks. Aftermarket equivalents from Belgard and Techo-Bloc match Tamko specs for color and compressive strength, but we verify lot color against your existing field before quoting. Rowan Construction Group Pompano Beach is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Tamko.

Signs Your Tamko Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your Tamko Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Surface spalling or flaking on the paver face. This is freeze-thaw damage accelerated by Florida’s salt air, especially within a mile of the Intracoastal. The paver’s cap layer delaminates from moisture trapped in surface micro-cracks. In Pompano Beach, we see this most on north-facing driveways that stay damp longer after morning dew.
  • Joint sand washing out between pavers, leaving gaps. The polymeric sand bed has broken down, usually from improper initial watering during installation or pressure washing with too narrow a nozzle. Once the sand goes, the interlock goes, and individual pavers start to rock under tire loads.
  • Stepping or lippage, where one paver sits higher than its neighbor. The bedding layer has eroded or compacted unevenly, often from water running off a downspout or AC condensate line onto a concentrated area. The fix is lift-and-relay, not just grinding down the high unit.
  • Edge restraint pulling away from the perimeter. Plastic spike-in restraints degrade in UV; in Pompano Beach’s sun exposure, we’ve seen them become brittle in six to eight years. Once the edge goes, the field spreads laterally and the pattern geometry collapses inward.
  • Efflorescence, a white powdery film on the surface. This is calcium hydroxide migrating from the cement matrix, harmless structurally but often mistaken for mold. It signals that moisture is moving through the paver body freely, which in a sealed system means the bedding layer is saturated and drainage is compromised.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Tamko driveway and paver work in Pompano Beach, our installed pricing follows the ranges below. Every quote is a flat written price with scope, delivered before work starts, under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard.

Service Price Range
Paver driveway installation (new) $7,000-$18,000
Concrete driveway installation $4,500-$12,000
Driveway replacement (remove and replace) $5,000-$14,000
Driveway sealing $250-$700
Paver patio installation $3,500-$11,000

What drives the range: substrate condition, square footage, access for excavation equipment, and whether we match existing color lots or transition to a new Tamko or equivalent line. A full replacement includes removal and disposal of the existing field, regrading the sub-base to 1/4″ per foot minimum slope, laying new bedding material, installing the paver field with proper joint spacing, compacting with a plate compactor, sweeping in polymeric sand, and watering to set. We pull permits where required by Pompano Beach code, and every job closes with a documented photo record and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. No change proceeds without a signed change order, which is how we’ve kept projects within a few percent of the agreed number across 4,000-plus jobs since 2007.

There’s a clear line here. An owner can safely check: whether downspouts or irrigation heads are directing water onto the paver field, whether joint sand is visibly missing, and whether edge restraints are cracked or pulling. These are observations, not repairs.

Where DIY goes wrong: lifting pavers without understanding the bedding layer gradation, which in Tamko permeable systems is specifically 3/8″ clear stone, not mason sand. Get that wrong and you lose drainage, and the next hard rain lifts your whole field. Resetting pavers requires a plate compactor and a practiced eye for maintaining the bond pattern; hand-tamping leaves soft spots that telegraph through in weeks. And any excavation deeper than four inches in Pompano Beach risks hitting shallow irrigation or low-voltage lighting runs that previous owners buried without proper depth. We carry ground-penetrating awareness on every truck, and our crews are background-checked and uniformed. If you’re seeing the symptoms above, call (754) 714-6540 to schedule your free estimate.
